Aims
and Purposes
Impact's core business is to develop locally-based youth crime
prevention activities for "young people at risk of entering the
youth justice system."
Impact projects are implemented through local partnerships between
our member youth organisations, community based youth groups,
government and non-government organisations.
The co-operation of volunteers and paid workers, working together,
is essential to the projects' success.
Main
Activities
Youth crime
prevention is about engaging participants in positive activities in
a safe, caring environment with the aim of providing life skills and
a sense of well-being and increasing their confidence, social skills
and connection with the community. In indigenous or islander
communities, it's also about supporting the community to encourage
knowledge and a sense of pride in the community and in cultural
heritage. Impact projects have included a wide variety of activities
including sport, cultural, youth space development, cross-cultural,
personal development, outdoor recreation and adventure, festivals
and camping programs.
