Police-Citizens Youth Clubs - Enhancing Queensland Communities Through Youth Development

Establishment of the Police Citizens Youth Club

The first Police Citizens Youth Club was established at Lang Park in 1948. Since its inception the Queensland Police Citizens Youth Welfare Association has grown throughout the state to now have 46 PCYCs covering most major communities in Queensland and Bornhoffen, located in the lush Numbindah Valley of the Gold Coast Hinterland.

Membership

There are in excess of 67,500 members of the Queensland Police Citizens Youth Welfare Association. Over 80% of the membership is under 25 years of age. This figure does not include those people who attend Police Citizens Youth Clubs for dance parties, meetings, programs and many other functions conducted in the community based facilities. In total over 2.5 million attendances occur at PCYCs annually.
