Establishment of Scripture Union
1867 in England,
1880 in Queensland. Queensland became autonomous in 1944. Registered
as a Company in Queensland in 1952.
Membership
17,000 supporters,
3,000 volunteer workers, no membership system. About 20,000 people
involved with ministry. 125 staff.
Aims and Purposes
Working with
churches, SU Queensland aims;

to make God's
Good News known to children, young people and families; and

to encourage
people of all ages to meet God daily through the Bible and prayer.

SU Queensland's
main ministry is schools.
SU Queensland has:

140 groups in
high schools and 130 groups in primary schools (grades 5-7)

100 chaplains in
state high and primary schools

camps for primary and secondary school students

SU Queensland

SU Queensland also
has resource centres to support young people and children's
ministry.
SU Queensland has a large range of training programs for its own
ministries and for others. This includes an accredited youth
leadership apprenticeship scheme
SU Queensland has offices in Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton,
Nerang, Maroochydore, Toowoomba and Brisbane.
